2026 Album Roundup #3
I feel like there's been quite a few albums I've listened to since the last update. There's no way I'm going to remember them all lol.
Miserere Luminis - Sidera
I've only listened to this once I've gotta get back to it, because I think it might have ruled. French atmospheric black metal, post-metal, proggish at times. Super cool would recommend.
Chalk Hands - The Line That Shapes The Coast Of Us
I've talked about this before but damn this album rips. Can I just say that the genre name emoviolence is fkn cringy as hell. Sounds like a 14 year old with eyeliner named it. Frick. This album rules though. Post-hardcore vibes here rule.
Mammal Hands - Circadia
2026 the year of the hands?! This album also rules but in a very different way than the previous two albums. Just three guys, having a good time, grooving. Saxophone, drums, piano. In another lifetime this could have been us, dawg. Frick. That would be cool. Should we try it? Maybe. This rules in the meantime tho.
My New Band Believe - S/T
This is the solo project of the OTHER Black Midi vocalist. I liked it more overall than the Geordie Greep album I think. I just can't do a whole album with Geordie's vocals idk. This is kinda grating in it's own way though? Idk it comes off at times as too ornamental/theatrical for me. Love Story rules and the album overall is good not great. Theme of the year it seems.
Jessie Ware - Superbloom
I am a Jessie Ware stan, disco-pop about accepting your own sensuality wew sign me up. She just fkn rules at creating an atmosphere for her albums. This one is a bit over-produced at times I think, especially compared to What's Your Pleasure. But it's just a really fun pop album imo and the trio of WYP, That Feels Good, and this album has gotta be the best trio of pop albums released in the 2020s.
Tiffany Day - Halo
This is another one I've only heard once and that I generally liked. This is another album being likened to Ninajirachi. Which is dope that nina has blown up in such a major way over the last year. Love to see it. But this isn't as good. Which is okay, because that ninajirachi album is so fkn good my god. This is a fun electropop/electro house album that I need to explore more.
Tsubi Club - Trinket
I heard Tsubi Club for the first time a year or two ago with the single laced up. That song was dope, so I checked out some other stuff and was pretty ambivalent. This is their debut album and it's a fun hyperpop jaunt with some catchy moments, but nothing here that demands multiple re-listens so far.
Fcukers - O
Another album that gets linked to ninajirachi, I think I preferred the Tiffany Day album to this one. But house music is fun most of the time so not a bad listen at all.
Slayyyter - Wor$t Girl in America
Another one I've listened all the way through once but this was pretty dope. I think I liked this initially more than the new Underscores album which surprised me. Although I have gone back and listened to the underscores again and it did grow on me a bit. This is a dope electropop album though, need to dive more into it. Which is a theme it seems.
