Kent Quasar: A Conflagration

2026 Album Roundup #6

Wew halfway point of the year. Some new stuff and a shoutout to the best albums of the first 6 months of the year.

Olivia Rodrigo - you seem pretty sad for a girl so in love

Third album by Olivia and this one didn't engage with me the way Guts did for sure. I've only made it through once, and theres some great songs here no doubt. I really liked both Drop Dead and The Cure, but idk I don't find myself wanting to go back to it much.

Feeble Little Horse - Bitknot

I liked Girl With Fish from 2023 quite a bit, so when I saw a new release I was intrigued. I liked it but it didn't feel as catchy and novel as Girl With Fish was.

Boards of Canada - Inferno

I think this just proves I'm not an IDM/downtempo nationalist. This album is good, there were multiple times I was grooving. I have 0 desire to listen to this more. Idk man, it's just not for me I guess. Blood in the Labyrinth was dope tho.

Kim Petras - Detour

Another electropop/EDM/hyperpop album. I do think this is Kim's best album overall. There's been a ton of albums in this lane this year, and i think this is one of the better ones, but not the best. Need to listen a few more times to make a more complete picture though.

Theres a few more I've started including the newer Converge album, Janus Rasmussen album (this is surprisingly cool I think), Deadletter, and Lip Critic; but haven't listened to even half of the album yet.

Quick standouts for the first half of the year. Overall I feel like last year absolutely blows this year out of the water, but these albums are still great.

Leroy - Status Update Music Chalk Hands - The Line That Shapes the Coast of Us Mammal Hands - Circadia Koyo - Barely Here Tiffany Day - Halo (the clear best electropop/EDM release of the year for me) The Lemon Twigs - Look For Your Mind!
