2026 Album Roundup #7
Another month, another roundup. Some pretty cool stuff lately.
Jack White - Frozen Charlotte
This feels like a bit of a No Name runback, which I mean I thought No Name was sweet so no problems with that. Guitar work is sick as is to be expected from a Jack White record. But yeah nothing too groundbreaking here, but it's a fun listen. Pumped for the show later this year.
Iceage - For Love of Grace & the Hereafter
This post-punk album came out of nowhere for me but I've been digging it. The vocals are just a touch grating at times for me, but overall a good time.
Saidan - Fangdriller: Scars Beneath Memory's Wrist
Sincerely one of the worst album titles and absolutely trash track titles also. But man this fkn black metal/power metal vibe is so dope imo. The guitars shred, the shrieking vocals work, just pure energy for the entire run time and I dig it.
Kelela - New Avatar
I wasn't really on the Raven train a few years ago when that got some hype so I didn't know what to expect from this album. I think I like it more than Raven. I need to listen more but something just doesn't click with Kelela's take on R&B for me yet.
Acloudyskye - In A While This Will All Be Gone
Another album i dig tagged as Furry Music. Fkn hell man can't a guy just listen to some chill Indie Rock without being judged? This album seemed a bit more lively than some of his previous releases which I dug.
Soft Curse - Liminal Ritual
So I was checking out State Faults spotify because I loved Children of the Moon from like 2024 or 2023 or whatever and it had a link to this album and was like 'check out our new band!' and man what a downgrade lol. The screamo/post-hardcore vibes being switched out for doom metal, decidedly not my vibe. The vocals seem worse? Even though I'm pretty sure it's the same guy. Idk it was a bummer.
Tweaker Poem - Frost Children
This is just an EP but gets a shoutout because it's pretty fkn dope all around. Another fun electropop/EDM release to pile on for this year, seems to be the year for it.
Vince Staples - Cry Baby
I listened to this despite not ever really getting into Vince Staples mostly because I feel like there hasn't been many standout rap albums this year. This was pretty good tbh, I should probably go back and listen to some Vince Staples. While nothing spectacular imo, did scratch the rap itch.
