The 14th Best Album of 2025
The number 14 spot on the list belongs to a new (to me) band, which formed in 2004 and has been putting out albums since 2009 lol. I do think I vaguely recognized the name when it came across my screen but I definitely was not listening to these guys in high school. It's La Dispute with No One Was Driving the Car.
I think I might be a post-hardcore stan tbh. I feel like I don't seek it out, but whenever I hear an album like this, or even going back to when I was a younger lad and heard At the Drive-in's Relationship of Command it's just like, hell yeah dude this shit just rules. This album just bursts with passion/emotion from open to close and I can't get enough. I've talked previously about spoken word-style vocals on Maruja's album. But where that devolved to an awkward rapping, here it builds to screaming instead, and I think it works much better for the sound of the album overall. Everything here just works incredibly well together, and I'm thankful this album came across my radar last year.
