The 26th Best Album of 2025
Posts on back to back days, wow this fire is truly getting out of hand. But anyways #26 brings us an entry by someone known by many names. They've already made appearances on previous albums, and another one is waiting to be revealed. It's Ghostholding by Venturing. Aka Jane Remover aka leroy aka c0ncernn aka a million other names. It's wild how a few years ago I had never heard of Jane Remover (or any of their other aliases) but now most every release under any name becomes a priority listen. In contrast to the digicore/hyperpop/EDM maximalist release under Jane Remover, Ghostholding is more closely related to Jane's 2023 release Census Designated. An indie rock album with shoegaze/slowcore elements, it's much more laid back and introspective than Revengeseekerz.
This album hit hard when it was first released in February, then kind of got lost in the releases of the summer. As the weather has gotten cold and it's more grey out it's found its way back. It feels like an album to enjoy in the softer times of the year, especially rolling through the hills of the driftless, perfection.
