Kent Quasar: A Conflagration

The 32nd Best Album of 2025

I gotta admit that this album was a bit of a whirlwind for me. Highly anticipated, some good singles and some i wasn't so keen on, and an album that was good but not as good as I wanted it to be. Great ideas that cut off a bit too abruptly. And album that just ultimately feels a bit underwhelming. Yeule's Evangelic Girl is a Gun.

Glitch Princess introduced me to yeule and what an introduction. Strange, broken beats with stilted, haunting vocals over top. A acoustic song inserted in the middle for some reason, more beautiful than the rest of the album would have you believe yeule could be. Then softscars came out, and the production was cleaner, less glitchy more dreamy. And I didnt dig it at first, but upon more listens became one of my favorite albums of 2023. So when singles started to drop for this i was psyched. And Eko was an instant banger. Then skullcrusher came out, and I thought it was a good song that ended about a minute and a half too soon. This album is more rock tilted than their previous albums, a little colder maybe? I wanted this to grow on me like softscars did but it just hasn't. There are good songs on here, and I think the framework of a good album. I think my fondness of yeule pulled it higher up this list than it maybe deserves on its own. But Eko, dudu, and the title track are all super dope. Maybe you'll dig it more than me.
