Kent Quasar: A Conflagration

The 3rd Best Album of 2025

As we approach the end I gotta say this has gotta be one of the better years for music this decade (at least since like 2022 when I started listening to more releases again), damn these albums are dope. #3 came from a totally unknown artist who had only released an EP in 2022 before this debut and I gotta say it's my favorite EDM-like release since I've been back. It's Ninajirachi's I Love My Computer and wew is it good.

I don't think I heard any of the singles to this album prior to release, only discovering it once it started taking off on RYM. As someone who is awful at distinguishing the minutiae of any subgenres honestly, but especially those surrounding electronic/EDM/house music I was like, eh electro house sounds cool let's see what it's all about.

London Song got me interested, a repetitive verse over a bouncy synth-driven beat, instrumentals were great, production is excellent. I think what hooked me was the next 4 track run from Ipod Touch to Delete. Every single track is catchy and sharp and brilliantly unique, which I think is what sets this album apart. There's nothing I heard last year that sounds like this. Of course there's so much fkn music being made I'm sure there's similar stuff out there but, especially on first listen, for someone who doesn't listen to a lot of EDM, this felt completely unique which I loved. It was new, fresh, and completely spellbinding. I didn't realize how much I listened to the album until my stupid Wrapped playlist came out and basically every single track was on it.

I mentioned the 4-track stretch at the beginning of the album and those are especially great but there are 0 skips here imo. Sing good is sweet and more lo-fi and dope. Infohazard goes incredibly hard. It's all great, front to back, quite the debut.
