The 40th Best Album of 2025
The hits keep coming with another group who's first project was released in the late, late 2000s (2011). Norwegian punk outfit Honningbarna and their dynamite album Soft Spot claim #40 on the list some critics have called 'The defining collection of music in 2025' and 'Who even is kent quasar'.
But for real this album just jams. I don't know any Norwegian so got no clue what they're singing about, but the energy in this post-hardcore release is infectious. I'm usually not a big fan of noise rock and noise-adjacent things but this seems to walk the line of 'just noisy enough' and 'okay that's too much' quite well, ending up on the good side of the line much more often than the bad one. Keep rocking Norwegian dudes, hope you aren't singing about anything weird. Oh god one of the descriptors on RYM is political frick is this some alt-right shit, do they have alt-right people in Norway oh god oh fuck.
