Kent Quasar: A Conflagration

The 5th Best Album of 2025

We've made it, the top five. The best of the best. We kick off the top tier with an artist we've already mentioned multiple times, and already had a whole different album on the list. Jane Remover's Revengeseekerz lands at #5.

I've already talked about Jane a lot so I'll get into the album more. After 2023's Census Designated fell a bit flat for me I didn't know what to expect. When the singles "Magic I Want U" and "Flash in the Pan" dropped I was hyped as both hit super hard and seemed like a dope intro to the album. Neither actually ended up being on the record lol. Thankfully the two singles actually for the record, "JRJRJR" and "Dancing With Your Eyes Closed" were also dope. But they definitely also signaled a change of pace from the slower more shoegazy 2023 album which I was into. Then the album dropped.

Wew what a fkn glorious, overwhelming, manic dream this album is. There's a lot going on, on every track, all the time. It's digicore and EDM and hyperpop beats and idk it feels like everything is dialed up to 100 at all times. Despite the chaos there is a defining beat/line through each song which I do appreciate, it isn't just constant walls of sound or anything. The melodies are still there, there's just a lot of lines happening at once. It's beautiful chaos and it's just wild that the same person can release that dream pop/shoegaze Venturing album then release this less than two months later. And also release a handful of banging dariacore tracks, and a few mixtapes/EPs throughout the year as well. The output is crazy, this album is crazy, the Danny Brown feature is dope. What a year for Jane, man.
